Ethics and Transparency

Guaranteeing the highest ethical standards is a daily priority for Chiesi in every aspect of its business. This means doing business on the basis of the principles of legality, fairness, integrity, responsibility and transparency.

In this regard, also in compliance with the laws and regulations in force, we have adopted a specific Code of Conduct and since 2005 all our subsidiaries have been progressively involved in the implementation of the Group Code of Conduct.

Furthermore, Chiesi Farmaceutici S.p.A. has implemented a specific Organisational, Management and Control Model (known as Model 231) in Italy.

In order to uphold the high legal and moral standards of the Group, Chiesi also adopted an Anti-Corruption Policy in 2015. The purpose of this policy is to provide anyone acting on behalf of or in the interests of Chiesi with a series of general principles on how to recognise and deal with situations involving corruption and how to comply with related regulations, which are in line with the provisions set out in Chiesi’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.

As a pharmaceutical company, the Chiesi Group works closely with the scientific community by constantly exchanging knowledge, achieving significant progress in the scientific world for the benefit and protection of patient health, once again in accordance with the codes and provisions regulating our sector.

Based on the rules set out in the Code on Disclosure of Transfers of Value from Pharmaceutical Companies to Healthcare Professionals and Healthcare Organizations, relating to transparency regarding the transfer of value between pharmaceutical companies, healthcare workers and organisations, which are indicated by the EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries) and also acknowledged in the Farmindustria Code of Conduct, our company has committed itself to making data relating to these transfers of value public at European level each year beginning in 2015 (first publication June 30th 2016).

A detailed report of any financial transactions made for the benefit of healthcare operators and organisations over the previous year has been available on Chiesi’s websites since June 30th 2020.

Our Italian affiliate Chiesi Italia S.p.A. provides a detailed report of any financial transactions made with healthcare workers and organisations in Italy during 2019 on its website (click here for further information).

With regard to healthcare workers, these cover expenses for taking part in conferences and congresses and expenditure for consultancy work and professional services regulated by specific contracts.

With regard to healthcare organisations, these relate to donations and contributions either in the form of money or in kind made to sponsor scientific events providing specialized training and pay for consultancy work and professional services covered by a written agreement between Chiesi and other institutions, organisations or associations.
