A Health Race - Race Walking event was held in the morning of Sunday 19 October 2014 at Pyrgos, Elis with the active participation of residents of all ages. The goal of the Pyrgos municipality was to raise the awareness of citizens on matters of health, particularly of the respiratory system, since respiratory diseases are leading causes of morbidity.
Chiesi Hellas responded positively to the municipality’s invitation to support this sports event. As Major Sponsor of the event it offered its support, while also offering free spirometry tests to participants of the race performed by local pulmonary physicians, so contributing to the information of citizens on respiratory illnesses such as Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, allergies, etc.
The race route was designed to cross the city through the main streets covering two distances, 2 and 5 kilometers each, starting and ending at the central square. The good weather ensured the large participation, offering the chance to many residents to run for the “Health and better quality of life in the city”.
